Pay-per-prescription services are illegal

Updated over 2 weeks ago

In the United States, pay-per-prescription services—where patients pay solely for a medication prescription without a full medical evaluation—are illegal and unethical. These services violate federal and state medical regulations, including:

  • The Ryan Haight Online Pharmacy Consumer Protection Act – This law prohibits the online prescribing of controlled substances without a prior in-person evaluation or a valid telehealth relationship.

  • State Medical Board Regulations – Most states require comprehensive patient evaluations before any prescription is issued.

  • HIPAA & Ethical Violations – Prescribing medications without proper documentation, follow-ups, and patient oversight fails to meet the ethical standards of medical care.

At DreamCloud Psychiatry, we do not offer pay-per-script services. Instead, we follow legal, ethical, and medically sound practices to provide high-quality psychiatric care.
